First Day of Work

The first day of a new job is very nerve-racking but is probably the most important day of a summer job. Here are a few tips that will help in leaving a positive first impression.

  • Dress for success! It’s better to be over dressed on the first day then to be underdressed.

  • You might want to ask your supervisor beforehand what they consider to be appropriate.

  • Be early! Arrive 15-20 min before expected time.

  • Pay attention, especially to polices, rules and regulations.

  • Ask lots and lots of questions, don’t be shy ask for clarification if needed.

  • Remember the names of people you were introduced to for future reference.
